A Yarn Box Catch Up

Time for some more lovely yarn box reveals.

First up, way at the beginning of August was the Suicide Squad box.

Moving on to September. Our first box for the month was “Roald Dahl is 100”. Do you have a favourite Roald Dahl book? Mine has to be Matilda. I used to love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but I’ve read it to so many different classes of children that I’ve, dare I say it, got a little bored it it now.

Customers who ordered a Short box received:

Last but certainly not least we released the third instalment of our “Four Seasons” yarn boxes, Autumn. Autumn has to be my favourite seasons, you get sunny days without it being over hot and the colours of the trees are just stunning, rather like this yarn!

Our quarterly yarn boxes only come in one size therefore every customer who ordered this received:

• 100g of “Autumn Rainbow”
• A hand painted glass from Boo, It’s Sparkly. If you ordered the previous season boxes you’ll now have three quarters of the set.
• A blackberry progress keeper/stitch marker by Wychwood Dreams

Yarn Boxes! Yarn Boxes Everywhere!

Hello out there! Can anyone hear me? I’m sorry I’ve been absent for so long but I have some awesome yarn boxes to show you because although I’ve been slack in my duties Mel has not, she’s been sending out some amazing colourways and fun extras.

First up: Chamber of Secrets is 18 (Oh man, I feel old).

For those who ordered the Short box (£15) they received:

• 100g/400m skein of “Basilisk” on silver sparkle sock yarn – this is my favourite colourway to date, I keep taking my skein of the shelf just so I can squish it and admire it. I’ve yet to find a pattern to do it justice!
• A Harry Potter themed badge

For those who ordered the Tall box (£25) they received all of the above plus:

• A golden snitch necklace
• A Harry Potter themed sticker
• Themed stitch markers from the wonderful Wychwood Dreams

For those who ordered the Grande box (£35) they received everything above plus:

• 100g/400m skein of “Sword of Gryffindor” on a merino/nylon sock base

 

The next box released to homes around the world was Summer, part of our Four Seasons range – you can read about the Spring edition here.

Hello, my name is Debbie and I’m a tennis addict….so I was very excited to find out the Summer box was going to be Wimbledon themed, it is my favourite tournament after all and my favourite player won it this year.

The Four Seasons boxes come in one size only so everyone who ordered one received:

• 100g/400m of “Strawberries and Cream and New Balls Please” on a gold sparkle sock yarn base
• A gorgeous sunflower stitch marker from Wychwood Dreams
• A hand pained wine glass by Boo It’s Sparkly – each box has a new glass in it so anyone who ordered all 4 boxes will have a complete set by the end of the year.

 

The third box I have to show you is an amalgamation of three awesome shows. Supernatural, Sherlock and Doctor Who. I present to you SuperWhoLock.

The final box I have to show you today is part of the Surprise Sock Box range – you can read about the others here and here. As the name implies the sock box theme is always a surprise. This time the theme was…

…”Life’s a Beach”. When you live in the British Isles you really appreciate sunny days and if you can’t get a sunny day well then – have some sunshine in a yarn box instead!

Like the Season box, the Surprise Sock Box only comes in one size so everyone who ordered it received:

Our second alien themed box to be released was the Sci-Fi box. What was exciting about the main skein in this box was the inspiration picture was chosen by one of our customers who won a competition. Hello there! Long time, no see. Apologies for the lack of blogging but I hope you’ll forgive me when I show you all the fabulous yarn goodies that have been winging their way to their new homes around the world!

First up we have the Easter themed yarn box!

Everyone who ordered the short box (£15) received:

• 100g of “How do you eat yours?” on a superwash merino/nylon base
• A rather delightful chirping chick – I hope the children had fun with them!
• A chocolate lollipop

Those who ordered the tall box (£25) received all of the above plus:

• A gorgeous Easter themed row counter bracelet from the always awesome Wychwood Dreams
• A chocolate egg and spoon

Everyone who ordered the grande box (£35) received everything mentioned above plus:

• 100g of sparkly mini eggs

Not long after the Easter Box we released our very first Seasons Box.

Everyone who ordered this box received:

• 100g of “Narcissus” on a BFL/nylon base
• Some daffodil bulbs to brighten up their garden
• A stunning daffodil stitch marker from Wychwood Dreams
• A hand painted wine glass from the talented Boo It’s Sparkly

If you’re drooling while looking at this photo and wishing you’d signed up then never fear. You can’t get your hands on this box but you still have the chance to grab yourself the remaining three Seasons boxes that will be released throughout 2016. Just keep an eye on our Etsy store where they will be listed for sale in due course along with other awesome yarn boxes.

Although I keep saying this every time Mel shows me a new colourway the next box I’m going to show you is, I have to admit, my favourite yarn box so far.

This was the second Surprise Sock Box to be released this year and the surprise theme turned out to be…..

The Cat in the Hat! Don’t worry, there were no Green Eggs and Ham in sight, instead everyone received:

• 100g of “Cat in the Hat” on a merino/nylon sock base
• A Cat in the Hat themed pack of sweeties
• A Cat in the Hat project bag – Mel made them herself, she’s more than just a yarn dyer!

Yarn Boxes: Love Is In The Air

I’ve got three really awesome Yarn Boxes to fill you in on today but first – hop on over to our Facebook page and check out the Easter themed competition we’re running, you don’t want to miss it!

Ok, lets meet the latest batch of boxes. First up – Valentines Day!

As with the majority of our boxes this one was offered in 3 sizes.

Customers who ordered Short (£15) received:

From one celebration of love to another! Next up we have our Mothers Day box.

Yarn Boxes Everywhere

Mel has been super busy over the last month working on some fabulous new yarn boxes that have now found their way to their new owners and are ready to be shared here on the blog!

First up we have “Pacman is 35”  Retro Gamers box. Each person who placed an order received:

• 100g skein of “Space Invaders” on superwash/merino/bamboo sock yarn
• 100g skein of “Tetris” on superwash double knit
• A Space Invaders badge
• A Mario pen (his hat lifts off to reveal a mini stamp!)
• Super tasty Pacman and Ghost biscuits which were handmade by Clare
• Sonic the Hedgehog fridge magnets
• A space invaders necklace handmade by Wychwood Dreams

Next up were two spooky boxes which were just perfect for October. The Halloween Box and the Buffy is 18 box.

In the Halloween box each person received:

• A 100g skein of “The Witch, The Pumkin and The Graveyard” on gold sparkle sock yarn
• A Halloween themed mini notepad and a bloody syringe pen
• A fabulous kilt/shawl pin by the wonderful Wychwood Dreams
• A sheet full of Halloween stickers

The Buffy is 18 (18! Can you believe it? I really am feeling old) box contained:

• A 100g skein of “Spikes Shirt” on a merino/bamboo base
• A 100g skein of “Buffy and Willow” on a double strand merino/nylon base
• An I  ❤ Buffy Badge
• A rather cleverly designed Vampire Bite necklace by Wychwood Dreams
• A hand painted shot glass by the talented Boo It’s Sparkly

Our final box which was just dispatched and seems to have been extremely well received was Banish the Winter Blues. Given the turn in the weather lately it was the perfect time to receive this scrummy box in the post. Every box contained:

• 100g skein of “Cold and Frosty Morning” on a silver sparkle base – this yarn and the colourway are just perfect for creating snuggle cowls and shawls for the winter months
• A gorgeous hand painted mug from Boo It’s Sparkly
• A cone of hot chocolate and marshmallows containing enough for 3-4 servings to enjoy during the chilly winter evenings
• Some handmade biscuits to enjoy with your drink from Clare’s Cakes and More

For those who ordered it the additional skein of yarn was “Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows” on superwash double knit.

Our next box that you still have time to order is NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS – I’m so excited for this one – but I recommend you hurry because spaces are limited and filling up fast

2016 Yarn Box Sign Ups

Trying to get ahead of the game for 2016 and have planned out all of the yarn boxes.

I hope there’s something for everyone.

This year, we’ve gone with three sizes to fit everyone’s budget.

Short – £15.00 (typically 100g yarn, st marker 1-2 goodies)
Tall – £25.00 (comparable to our current standard yarn boxes – as Short with additional goodies)
Grande. £35.00 (as “Tall” with an extra themed skein)

Places are limited to 20 for each box (unless otherwise stated).

Yarn Boxes: Elementary, My Dear Watson

Before we get on to our gorgeous yarn boxes I have some fun news for you! The Yarn Tree now has it’s own customer chat group on Facebook. Come along, share your creations and get a sneak peek at what’s to come in the new year.

We’ve had two rather awesome (if I do say so myself) yarn boxes dispatch recently and I’m excited to tell you all about them.

Our first box was Autumn. Mel, who is the creative genius behind all the boxes, wanted to break away from the generic colours for Autumn and try something a little more special. These were her inspiration pictures for the yarn:

In their box everyone received:

• A 100g skein of “The Harvest” on a merino/nylon sock base – the base for all colour ways can be customised to suit your taste, just let us know what you’d like when you fill in the sign up form or drop us a message on Facebook.
• A set of owl stitch markers, handmade by Wychwood Dreams

• Some delicious marzipan fruits from Clare’s Cakes and More

Our second box is one of my personal favourite themes – I Am Sherlocked.

• Authentic Scottish shortbread (hands up if you knew Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh) with a Sherlock themed wrapper

Yarn Box: My Little Pony

Another month, another yarn box. This time it was inspired by My Little Pony…brace yourself for an explosion of pretty colours.

Each box contained:

•  An “I ❤ Rainbow Dash” sock blank.
•  A My Little Pony notebook, pencil, pencil sharpener and eraser.
• Some My Little Pony temporary tattoos.
•  A My Little Pony sticker sheet.
•  A My Little Pony organza necklace.
•  Rainbow Dash themed stitch markers handmade by Wychwood Dreams.

For those who also purchased the additional skein they received “Friendship is Magic” on a silver sparkle  sock base.
